Pet Portrait Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing me to create a special portrait of your beloved pet. Every portrait is individually created with care, time, and attention to detail. By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Ordering & Booking
A portrait commission is considered booked once the required 50% deposit has been received.
The deposit secures your place in my painting schedule and allows me to begin preparing your commission.
Please make sure that all information provided at the time of booking — including your contact details, pet information, portrait size, and photo references — is accurate.

2. Payment Terms
A 50% deposit is required before work begins.
The deposit must be paid directly to my business account via Zelle or Venmo.
The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the portrait and before delivery or shipment.
Any applicable delivery/shipping costs must also be paid at the time the final 50% balance is paid.
The completed portrait will not be released or shipped until the final balance and applicable delivery costs have been received in full.
Payment Schedule
At booking: 50% deposit
Upon completion, before delivery: 50% remaining balance + delivery/shipping costs

3. Deposits & Cancellations
Because your portrait is a commissioned, handmade artwork created specifically for you, the 50% deposit is non-refundable once work has begun. If you need to cancel before work has started, please contact me as soon as possible so we can discuss your options. Once the painting process has begun, cancellations and refunds will generally not be available. If an exceptional circumstance arises, please contact me directly and I will consider the situation on a case-by-case basis.

4. Reference Photos
You are responsible for providing photographs that you have permission to use as reference material.
Clear, high-quality photographs are strongly recommended, particularly photographs where your pet’s eyes are clearly visible. The eyes are an important part of capturing your pet’s expression, personality, and spirit.
If you are unsure which photographs to provide, I am happy to help you select the most suitable images.
I may also use multiple photographs to create a single composition where requested and agreed upon.

5. Multiple Pets & Multiple Photographs
Multiple pets can be included in one portrait, and multiple reference photographs can be combined to create a single composition. Because each commission is different, the price may vary depending on the number of pets, photographs, portrait size, composition, and level of detail required. A personalized price will be agreed upon before the commission begins.

6. Portrait Process & Approval
I want you to feel involved in the creation of your portrait. Throughout the painting process, I will provide photographs or progress updates at appropriate stages so that you can see how your portrait is developing. Your approval will be requested during the process and before the portrait is considered complete. Once final approval has been given, no further changes will be made. Please review all progress images carefully and communicate any concerns or requested adjustments before providing final approval.

7. If You Are Not Happy With the Finished Portrait
I put a great deal of care and time into every portrait, and my goal is for you to love the finished piece.
If, after completion, you feel that the result does not meet the agreed artistic direction, I will work with you to restart the portrait. However, because commissioned artwork involves substantial time, materials, and preparation, a monetary refund will not be provided in place of a restart.
For this reason, progress approvals are an important part of the commission process.
Once you have provided final approval, changes cannot be requested afterward.

8. Memorial Portraits
Memorial portraits are welcomed and are created with particular care and sensitivity.
I am happy to create portraits of pets who have passed away, including incorporating them into a portrait with other pets or family members where possible. I also create celebration portraits for pets who are still very much part of your family.
Whether the portrait is a celebration, a remembrance, or simply a way to honor the bond you share, each piece is created to be something meaningful that you can treasure.

9. Estimated Completion Time
Portrait completion times vary depending on:
    ●    Breed and level of detail
    ●    Number of pets
    ●    Complexity of the composition
    ●    Portrait size
    ●    Current commission schedule and availability
    ●    Any agreed-upon special requests
As a general estimate, portraits typically take approximately 10–15 days to complete, followed by shipping or delivery time.
An estimated completion and delivery timeframe will be discussed with you when your commission is booked.
Please note that estimated timelines are not guaranteed delivery dates.

10. Shipping & Delivery
Worldwide shipping is available.
Shipping or delivery costs and estimated transit times will be calculated once your delivery address has been provided.
Shipping costs must be paid together with the final 50% balance before the portrait is dispatched.
Once the portrait has been shipped, delivery times are dependent on the carrier and destination and may be affected by circumstances outside my control, including customs delays, weather, carrier delays, or other unforeseen circumstances.
For international orders, the customer is responsible for any applicable customs duties, import taxes, or other fees charged by the destination country unless otherwise agreed in writing.

11. Packaging & Care
Every portrait will be carefully prepared and packaged for delivery.
Once the artwork has been received, please handle it with care and follow any care instructions provided.
If your portrait arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as possible and provide photographs of the packaging and artwork so that the situation can be assessed.

12. Gift Orders
Pet portraits can be purchased as gifts and may include a personalized gift note.
Optional gift presentation may include:
    ●    A beautifully framed portrait
    ●    Pet blanket
    ●    Pet treat
    ●    Pet toy
    ●    Personalized note
    ●    Beautiful presentation in a gift hamper or basket
Gift hamper options and pricing will be discussed and agreed upon at the time of ordering.

13. Artwork & Copyright
The finished portrait remains my original artwork.
I retain the copyright and intellectual property rights to the artwork unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
Purchasing a portrait gives you ownership of the physical artwork, but does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights.
I may photograph or display completed artwork for my portfolio, website, social media, advertising, or other promotional purposes. If you would prefer that your portrait not be used for promotional purposes, please let me know before the commission begins, and I will respect your request.

14. Customer-Provided Images
You confirm that you have the right to provide any photographs or other images supplied to me for use as reference material. You agree that providing an image does not infringe another person’s copyright or other rights.

15. Changes to Orders
Any changes to the agreed portrait — including size, number of pets, composition, framing, gift options, or other significant requests — should be discussed before the painting begins. Changes requested after work has started may result in additional charges or may not be possible depending on the stage of the artwork.

16. Communication
Clear communication helps make the portrait process enjoyable for everyone.
Please respond to requests for photo selections, approvals, or other information in a timely manner. Delays in receiving necessary information or approvals may affect the estimated completion date.

17. Agreement to These Terms
By paying the 50% deposit and commissioning a portrait, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
I truly appreciate the trust you place in me to create something so personal. Every pet has their own personality, quirks, and story, and it is an honor to turn that special bond into artwork you can treasure for years to come.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your pet’s story.
